NHS Contraception and Sexual Health Clinic

This Clinic runs every Tuesday and is located in the Clinical Skills Area, Level 3 in the School of Medicine Building, North Haugh.

This NHS-run clinic operates in term time only.  This clinic can provide contraception, sexual health advice and offers routine tests for Chlamydia, Gonorrhoea, HIV & Syphilis. Students with more complex problems must been seen elsewhere by calling 01592 647979.  

Please note this is an NHS-run clinic; whilst it utilises space within the University campus, it is organised and staffed solely by NHS Fife. If you have any queries about the services offered, please contact Sexual Health Fife on 01592 647979. Lines are open Mondays to Fridays 8:30am – 1:30pm.

  • The clinic runs every Tuesday from 12.30 pm - 4.00 pm.
  • To make an appointment you should go, in person, to the clinic on a Tuesday.
  • Your appointment may not be for the same day.
  • If you need an appointment sooner, contact 01592 647979, to make an appointment at an alternative clinic.

There is a Sexual Health Clinic at St Andrews Community Hospital (this clinic specialises in contraception, GUM and sexual health advice).  This clinic runs 9am - 12.30pm on a Friday.  This is an appointment-only clinic.  To make an appointment please telephone 01592 647979 between 8.30am - 1.30pm Monday to Friday.

NHS Fife and Terrence Higgins Trust Sexual Health Advice Support

From the 4th of May 2018, an additional Sexual Health Clinic will operate from the St Andrews Community Hospital on the first Friday of every month, 10am to 12.30pm. No appointment necessary. This clinic will offer:

  • General Health Advice 
  • Support and advice for gay and bisexual men & men who have sex with men (MSM)
  • Condom Distribution
  • Advice on PeP and PrEP
  • Chemsex Advice
  • Drug and alcohol advice 
  • Information on contraception
  • Referrals to other agencies where appropiate


Free contraception, including condoms, pills, injections and implants, are available at the NHS Sexual Health Clinic St Andrews Community Hospital.

Free condoms are also available from:

  • Student Services (Eden Court)
  • The Director of Representation and Iain Cupples (Students' Association, Union Building)
  • The Union porter (at night)
  • Condom distributors (located in every halls of residence)

The morning after pill is available at the Sexual Health Clinic, from your GP practice, or alternatively at any chemist.
