CUL Dd.1.1 is the largest and most complicated book communicating William Langland's Piers Plowman. It is of a size that may only be compared with better known ME books like the Vernon and Simeon MSS, although its confirmations are radically other - mainly an extensive Latin historical collection. Like a good deal of recent news, this lecture offers a bridge between Oxford and St Andrews. It brings to bear George Jack's intense philological scrutiny and longstanding Oxonian interests in medieval library history in an effort to contextualise the MS and its descent to CUL.
